Professional Profile
I’m a music-maker and creative producer with a long career working across performance, sound, media, and public-facing projects. I’ve spent my working life bringing ideas into reality — from early conception through development and delivery — in theatres, festivals, studios, outdoor environments, and on screen. I’m experienced in managing complex projects, take responsibility seriously, and have a strong track record of delivering work successfully, often within small, focused teams. I work well with others and am at a stage where I’m keen to be part of a team and contribute steadily to shared outcomes.
Selected project documentation and media examples are available via hyperlinks within this CV and at graemeleak.com.

Selected Professional Experience
Performance-led creative work
I’ve spent my career making and delivering performance projects, often at scale, involving complex logistics, large groups of performers, and public-facing presentation.

I conceived and composed the finale performance, wrote a large-scale work for 180 performers, and designed the overall stage movement and structure. I led the planning process and directed stage management teams to deliver a complex, live broadcast public event.

Freelance practice — UK & Australia
Alongside my performance work, I’ve worked as a freelance creative practitioner supporting the delivery of projects across theatres, festivals, public events, and cultural organisations.
- Delivered projects across a wide range of performance and public contexts
- Produced still photography and video for documentation, promotion, and web use
- Designed and prepared visual materials including posters, flyers, and digital assets
- Worked closely with producers, programmers, technicians, and administrators to deliver work to brief
- Represented work publicly through talks, presentations, and audience-facing events
Sound Designer & Audio Producer
A substantial part of my work has involved designing and delivering sound for performance, installation, and large-scale public projects — often in unconventional environments, and often requiring bespoke technical solutions.
Eco Opera — Creator, Sound Designer & Technical Director
I originated Eco Opera as an environmental sound project combining audio installations with live performance. I designed and built all instruments and contact microphones, and created a multi-camera live broadcast system for four 4-hour livestream episodes on Zoo TV. I later led an international iteration of the project, coordinating simultaneous filming in Scotland and Australia to produce two 2-hour broadcast episodes.

LISTEN — Lead Sound Designer & Creative Producer
A large-scale participatory sound installation that I conceived, designed, and delivered. I built all audio installations, coordinated student and professional performers, and worked closely with venue technical staff to implement the sound design in situ.

Canberra Centenary — Lead Sound Designer & Creative Producer
I coordinated eleven hours of floating musical performance as part of the Canberra Centenary celebrations. I designed and implemented bespoke battery-powered horn PA systems for boats, creating focused, directional sound that projected clearly to shore as performers moved past.

Studio & Recording Work
I’ve worked extensively in studio contexts, recording and producing audio for broadcast, performance, and artists.
As part of a small commercial recording studio, I delivered voice-overs for TV and radio advertising alongside artist recording and production. I built and maintained the studio patch bay, managed recording sessions, handled microphone selection and signal flow, and worked directly with clients to deliver clean, broadcast-ready audio to deadline.
Alongside engineering and production, I’ve also worked extensively as a recording artist and session percussionist. I’m comfortable performing on the other side of the glass, and have been a regular session player for film and television projects, TV bands, and a go-to performer for several established composers.
Higher Education Leadership
Earlier in my career, I worked in tertiary music education in Australia.
At La Trobe University, Melbourne (1990–1999), I co-created and led the Performance programme within the Music Department. Alongside teaching and creative leadership, I supported curriculum development, programme delivery, and student welfare, and served as Head of Department during a period of organisational transition.
Workshop & Facilitation Practice
Alongside my performance and production work, I’ve designed and delivered creative workshops across the UK and Australia.
This has included work with community groups, corporate teams, young people, and disabled participants. I’m comfortable planning projects from initial idea through to public presentation, and I’m known for clear communication, good humour, and inclusive working practices.
