Love Resonance (April 2021)

Best experienced on a larger screen, with headphones or good speakers, the lights dimmed and yourself comfortably settled.

Created during lockdown by Simone de Haan in Fremantle and Graeme Leak in Scotland, Love Resonance began as an exchange of sounds and images across distance.

Simone’s solo trombone, recorded against the western skies of Fremantle, meets a returning web of layered organ sounds from Scotland.

The work grew from a practice of deep listening and daily observation, and became a meditation on connection, loss and remembrance, honouring the life and spirit of Simone’s son, Mischa.

From the creators

Simone:

Exploring resonance in both sonorous and relational terms has been at the core of our collaboration. Love Resonance honours the life and essential spirit of my son Mischa.”

Graeme:

“What began as a conversation about performance audio techniques grew into a dialogue around authenticity and the nature of a life in music.”
