Noise Orchestra
Noise Orchestra is a rhythm workshop that invites anyone to join in the experience of playing in a drumming and percussion ensemble. Whether you’re a seasoned musician or have never picked up an instrument before, Noise Orchestra welcomes you to explore the world of beats and grooves in a relaxed and inclusive environment.
Noise Orchestra can be an outdoor parade, or stand alone community-music sessions, or a great activity for a corporate away-day.
The workshop features a diverse array of instruments, including both traditional drums and ‘junk and found’ objects like metal and plastic drums, wooden boxes, fuel tanks and tin cans together with classic drums, shakers, rattles, and whistles. Other instruments are welcome! Bring it along and we’ll write a part for it.
Participants learn and perform rhythms inspired by world music traditions such as African, Brazilian, Pacific Islands and Afro-Cuban.
Who can participate in Noise Orchestra?
Noise Orchestra is for people aged 14 years and older. Younger people are welcome if accompanied by a participating adult. I have all the current police checks in place for both the UK and Australia.
What happens in Noise Orchestra?
Sessions start with games, warm-ups and skills exercises before instruments are introduced. Rhythm patterns are demonstrated, we put them all together and play! And we keep playing until it feels easy and the patterns become a groove. Then we might record a video, or take it to the streets for a parade…
Noise Orchestra is now available for bookings – please contact me for details.
Noise Orchestra will soon be starting in Kinross, details to follow. Please join my mailing list for updates and info.
“Graeme can bring people together and make music out of anything, with a great sense of fun…”
