DrumSong (1989), composed for the Sydney band Jump Back Jack, debuted at Kinsela’s nightclub during the Gravity music/dance celebration. This mesmeric and joyful piece integrates high to low parts into a cohesive groove. The score features three patterns, five fills, and an ending, allowing groups to learn, adapt, and create their unique arrangement. A suggested arrangement and an optional double bell part for a fifth player/leader are included. Inspired by African celebratory drum music, DrumSong emphasises community groove and feel, with each part contributing to the harmonious whole.
