Winton Musical Fence ABC Landline 2003
Darran writes of this video: “A two-week road trip through remote Queensland country. Two mates riding shotgun. Days topping 45°C (113°F). And in the midst of this outback heatwave, a surprising opportunity. I’d heard about The Musical Fence on the outskirts of Winton but I almost gave it a miss, the twin lures of an air-conditioned car and deluxe accommodation at our next destination too strong. We made a last-minute detour and as we approached The Musical Fence, my initial apathy turned to inspiration and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. The idea for this video was conceived in a split second and the raw footage was shot in a few minutes (it was 45°C and devoid of shade, after all). We recorded the audio and most of the video using two GoPro 9 cameras with some supplementary footage on a Cannon R5. I edited this on the road using Final Cut Pro and remixed the audio in ProTools.
